A detail you missed out on was that Beck was a supporter of female musicians all his life. Perhaps his best known song, "Because We've Ended As Lovers", is intended to be sung by a woman, and listening through his discography you discover just a ton of strong female singers, and instrumentalists too.

The very last concert I saw of his (recorded, I never saw him live), he was playing with another guitarist, a young woman, and his excitement at her clever musical ideas simply made the show.

RIP, Jeff, you were one of the good ones.
