Almost all the technology that humans have created required math. Yes, that was a two-edged sword but people do like it.

Calling math a "rope around the brain" is just silly. A lot of the reason we have such incompetent and deceitful leaders is that their followers are unable to use logic - one of the core and original branches of math.
