I thought I was unshockable, and yet I was shocked when the anti-war movement, which seemed to be back in a big way for Iraq (even though it failed to actually effect change) silently collapsed when Obama became President. I chatted to people I knew, and the consensus was, "Obama knows what he is doing," and "We need to support him."

You describe a terrible picture, and it could make a man weep, but I remind myself that this is what America has done to dozens of countries in my lifetime, with the active encouragement of a majority of Americans, and I harden my heart.
