And yet you haven't named even one product that uses Web3 that is useful for anything other than cryptocurrencies.
You would think if this were so great, there would be so many to point to!
And the reason is simple - the consensus blockchain has negative value when it comes to writing applications.
Consider this question: show us one "Web3" application that could not be done with 1970s-vintage technology like a Merkle tree.
Now, this isn't a hard technical question. Merkle trees are old and established. For example, Git is just one great huge Merkle tree, which is a cryptographically signed, immutable ledge.
And blockchains are Merkle trees - except there are two extra conditions: the whole tree is in memory in every node and there is a periodic "consensus" phase where all nodes agree on the state of the whole tree.
So you would think that if someone understood the technology, it'd be easy to answer.
But I don't ever get an answer. (I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but I've delivered this speech a bunch by now.)
And the reason is also simple - the consensus phase is wildly expensive, making everything thousands of times slower and more resource consumptive, yet it offers no benefits for anything except cryptocoins.
