Another reason to use non-Macintoshes is that your machines are repairable and are less likely to end up in the trash.

I'm sick to death of Apple Computer, too, but unfortunately, I just can't give up having a Unix-like system on my desktop, and I also want to be able to do digital audio, so I'm kind of stuck.
