Bad start to this article. The Pareto Principle is a principle, which means that it isn't necessarily true.

Consider for example the human body. No matter how you slice it, heh, removing 80% of your body will kill you.

Consider a hospital. American hospitals routinely run at over 90% of capacity, so if you get rid of 80% of the workers, it will collapse.

Suppose you work in an organization where indeed 80% of the staff does little work. How did it get that way? The answer is management. It's exactly management's damn job to prevent things like this.

So when you go to fire 80% of the people, how do you decide whom to keep? The incompetent management will be the ones to tell you. How well will that work out?
