Bravo! I clapped immoderately, even though I hate the title.

Indeed, the title is almost certainly true. Oh, I do see a socialist future for parts of America, but I don't think the States are going to remain United very much longer.

The issue is that about 30% of Americans decided a generation ago that they were never going to cooperate with anyone outside their in-group again and have cooperated with the 0.1% to systematically and publicly cripple governance at all levels.

From my point of view as a non-American, the Republicans managed to steal one very close election in 2000, and quite likely also managed to suppress enough votes in 2016 to win then - though the loathsomeness of Hillary Clinton as a candidate cannot be underestimated in that loss.

The Republicans will never, ever again accept any Democratic victory as anything other than a cheat and a fraud. How long can a democracy last that way?

The next step would be for the Republicans to steal an election that they objectively and provably lost, which they almost did in 2020. And then the United States will be over.

To be honest, I expect it fairly likely that Biden will legitimately lose in 2024, because he's a low-energy old man with a speech disorder who has failed to deliver on his promises, even ones that he could make happen unilaterally.

And then who the fuck knows? It would delay the collapse of the US longer, but is that a good thing?
