Britain would be a lot better if it were back in the EU. But now I live in the EU again, I don't think they would want us back anymore.

British leaders maligned the EU for years. They lied to both their own people and the EU repeatedly. They negotiated in bad faith. They would repeatedly tender the same impossible offer, claiming it was new.

The EU doesn't want to put up with that again.

Also, they - I guess it's "we" now as I'm not moving back to the UK and I'll fairly soon be Dutch - would definitely not give Britain back its special status. Britain would have to give up the pound, and a plurality British would literally rather collapse and die rather than do that.

Future historians, not that I'm confident that historians will exist for much longer, will never be able to understand why a whole country shot itself in the head.
