But this makes zero sense. Black people ARE people of color!

Also, what does Eddie Murphy have in common with a Sámi, a member of the indigenous people of Lapland?

Nothing. Their interests, their goals, the problems they experience are completely different. Murphy is a rich and powerful African-American; the Sámi are poor, disadvantaged, very pale people in Norway.

All these acronyms are worse than useless - they are shibboleths to divide us into tiny little powerless groups and to identify American academic liberals to each other.

The key issue is power and wealth, and these acronyms pretend that isn't an issue at all. The reason it generally sucks to be a single mother in America or a Sámi in Norway is because you're probably broke and powerless, not because you're in some made-up completely artificial category like BIPOC.

Making up terms like BIPOC is worse than useless, because it is not action, it does not lead to action, it does not help the disadvantaged, and yet it makes people believe they are doing something useful.

No claps.
