While I do not have any sort of math PhD, the quip about not needing a PhD in maths from the Uni of Douchebags is a red flag - it says, "I don't understand the math and I'm proud of it."
I would add that decades ago, I used to write option models for a major investment bank. There's a very good reason why individuals don't last doing delta or gamma hedging - it's that the transaction costs, e.g. the bid/ask spread and the cost of commissions, makes it too expensive for someone who doesn't have their own trading desk.
My advice to you - get out of your positions as soon as you can.
