Despite my other quibbles, the central thesis of your article is right - there is literally no point in debating with people who aren't interested in facts, logic, or reasoning - let alone cultivating compassion or a sense of perspective.
The steady barrage of not just lies, but self-contradictory absurdities, affronts to common decency and intelligence, and gloating cruelty are bad for one's mental health.
Some people claim that only a fixed number of souls were ever created, and now that the population has become so high, a lot of people only have a fraction of a soul, or no soul at all.
I don't really believe it, and yet it has good descriptive value of how things are right about now.
