Exactly - it is the entire Democratic party that is unwilling to defend what is supposedly one of its party's core values, not just a subset.

Can you imagine all the Republican leadership running out to support a pro-gun control or pro-abortion candidate?

Of course not!

The Democrats, individually and as a group, are willing to toss any of their much proclaimed core values for a short-term temporary tactical advantage. The Republicans never do that.

This is why the Republicans have made such tremendous progress over the last forty years, while the Democrats have been unable to oppose them.

The DNC only ever focuses on what pragmatic thing might win the next election, and in their minds, that is adopting policies a "moderate Republican" might want.

But the Republicans at all levels are fixed on their long-term goals and their core values to the exclusion of all else.

And so US politics is like a ratchet that can only move in one direction, where the DNC chases the moderate Republicans, who constantly move away from them, to the right - for fifty years.
