First, your reasoning is very logical, and I too will start capitalizing White. (Yes, I also noticed noticed the inconsistency between the B and the w.)

Second, I think if you wanted one piece of information to completely validate your last paragraph (the force field), it's these overheated comments to your extremely moderate and reasonable article.

Here you are, writing something like, "Here's why I, personally, will be writing White instead of white".

There's no criticism of anyone else, or suggestion that anyone else has to start doing it, or anything negative at all.

And in response, all these White people (disclaimer: I am veryverywhite) just start running around screaming and wetting their pants. It would be really funny, if the underlying cause of this slapstick comedy didn't have far more grave consequences most of the time.
