For me, the worst is that we will almost certainly never know for sure what happened.

I’ve seen that photo comparison before. It’s really suspicious! It makes you wonder if Epstein were really killed — but how will we ever know for sure? It feels like they have already finished with the investigation, and we just won’t get any more data.

The most likely individual story is still that Epstein killed himself “naturally” but I give that perhaps a 30% chance, perhaps less. And then after that there are a dozen plausible stories, and I have no ability to distinguish which might be more true than the other.

Assuming that things are not as they are presented to us, the fact that this story is so incredibly flimsy that even the most “don’t believe in conspiracy” people are deeply suspicious indicates to me one of two things: either whoever arranged this must have been desperately frightened to have proceeded in such a hurry, or that they simply don’t care if we are deeply suspicious because we have really reached a post-truth society.

I suspect it’s a combination of both, but that second option is deeply disturbing.
