For me, this is the difficulty of vi, because modal editors aside from vi died out in the 1980s.

Every single time I sit in front of vi, I make the same mistake. I'm reading code, reading code, and then I know what I want to do and start typing really fast - but I'm in the wrong mode and I emit a lot of commands that destroy my buffer.
