It's such bullshit that people are "walking on eggshells", when people every single day throw the most amazing lies out and suffer not one consequence. Biden a pederast? Obama a Muslim? His wife transgender? You can say anything these days, no matter how foul.

Now, if you are a lazy comedian whose idea of a joke is something like, "Trans people. I mean, are they fucked up or what?", then a lot of people will simply not find your material funny. Punching down is generally only funny to sociopaths.
