God help us if that happens. If we got to that point, it’d already be far far too late.

If we just use them all up and run out, we’re looking at 5ºC/9ºF temperature increases which would devastate ecosystems — and harvests — all over the world for centuries and even millennia to come.

To avoid catastrophic climate change, most of the oil, gas and coal must stay in the ground.
