Great article, but are you really surprised about Obama's stance on this? Obama was to the right of Ronald (/me spits) Reagan on pretty well every topic.
Of course, the Republican Presidents are ravening monsters, but it was actually Obama that drove me from America forever.
And the reason was simple. During W, I knew despair, but I also had hope that we would bounce back when he was defeated.
When Obama upped drone attacks, the first week he was in office, I thought it was a mistake. When a few week he protected Wall Street from the consequences of its own actions with trillions in handouts and left the middle class to twist in the wind I realized I had been fooled. Shame on me.
The fact that the ACA was a tiny little bandaid on a sucking chest wound was just gravy. (After the worst pandemic in a century, it's appalling that socialized medicine is still not even being discussed.)
I don't remember whether it was this speech or Clinton talking about her "long, personal friendship" with the demented war criminal Kissinger, but I realized that I had to leave. It cost me most of everything I owned in the world, but it was worth it.
