Hear hear!

I'm a white guy, but I lived in America for thirty years.

The simple and sad answer is that if they had left without paying, the restaurant would have called the police and had them arrested; that if they had complained they'd have been thrown out, and if they had refused to leave, there would have been violence.

If you're Black in America, you learn stoicism, or you end up dead or in jail.

They did the right thing, going on with their lives and now suing. It was the only strategy that guaranteed that everyone would survive the night - yes, it really is that bad - and that they might actually hit the restaurant where it hurts.
