Hear, hear!

This is by the way very much like what police here in Europe do. Leaving NYC after thirty years to come to Europe, I had to unlearn a lot of things.

Funny story - we were walking down a canal in Amsterdam last year, and we saw all these shadows inside a building under construction, and people running. "Oh, it must be an arts performance!" we thought.

Then we heard someone politely say from inside the building, in English with a Dutch accent: "I'm sorry, but we're going to have to arrest you, because you're in this building illegally," and then a single word response, "Oh!"

It was so damned civilized we had to laugh.

And I've seen police here arrest drunk violent people, and they're very good at it - one cop stands in front of the drunk guy and lets him argue, and then two others come up behind him and pick him up by his elbows.

Such a contrast. I saw multiple people get beaten into unconsciousness by NYC cops, I saw bribes, I strongly suspected others.
