I feel very lucky that I was able to move here, quite late in life. I basically had a small windfall of money (I got a job at Google fairly early, two years earlier I'd have been set for life), and that's what I did with it.

And two weeks ago we became Dutch. Things are somewhat dire, I've been having difficulty making a living for various reasons, but the wolf isn't at my door, and I still feel super, super lucky.

If I get another windfall, seems unlikely but conceivable, I'll scholarship you guys over for a long visit...
