[wrong statement by me edited out - sorry!]
Yes, it is deliberately inflammatory to equate the two parties.
The DNC has failed to deliver for generations. That does not make them the same as the Republicans, who have delivered on their evil platforms for generations.
People are desperate. The Democrats seem far more interested in defeating any progressive ideas than coming up with any coherent policies that would defeat the Republicans.
Progressive policies are wildly popular. Two-thirds of voters support public health care, and similar two-thirds support raising the minimum wage and fighting the climate emergency.
And this despite any systematic support for either of these by either party. Imagine if the Democrats actually got behind these issues in a big way.
Instead they manage to always somehow find some reason to deliver nothing.
Remember JFK's stirring speech about going to the moon? What about such a speech about moving the economy green, or giving every American healthcare?
They don't give these speeches because they don't believe in them.
The DNC has made it clear for generations they will crush any progressive legislation and progressives when they can as a top priority.
This has lost them the moral will and the power to win against even batshitinsane candidates like Trump, and to impose the law against even blatant criminals as long as they are powerful.
So what the original writer means is that they have lost hope in the political system entirely. They feel completely cheated by the DNC who pretends to be on their side and fucks them repeatedly over their entire lives.
And you know, the stab in the back from your friends is always the most painful.
(Sorry again for my misreading...)
