How long can you chew the same stick of gum?

The "Marvel Comics Universe" is old and dreadfully formulaic. Almost every movie ends with a punch-up, with an ending you could have figured out before you started.

I'd also add that the libertarian ethos underpinning these movies is grim given today's political landscape. In superhero movies, regular people are just pawns: only a tiny number of superheroes can have any effect on the world.

This is why The Boys is so popular: because it skewers this idea so thoroughly and reveals its authoritarian underpinnings. As we are seeing over and over these days, giving people power makes them worse, not better.

And finally: the costumes! Capes and spandex and formfitting muscle shirts in bright colors: how is an adult supposed to take this seriously?
