Human decision-making sucks. People don't drive very well on average.
The sensor/weather issue is huge. But in good conditions and a known road, an AI already outperforms your average driver.
My feeling is in ten years, some driving jobs will be replaced by AIs - but most will still be done by humans.
By the time AI would be ready to do all the driving, we'll be into the climate collapse and no one will have time or resources to make driving robots.
