I agree completely. Liberals don't change the world because "liberalism" is just wrong.

The crowd gasps. "Has Tom gone to the dark side?" Not at all - I am approaching this matter from the left, not the right.

Here's what "liberalism" really means: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism

"Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but they generally support free markets, free trade, limited government, individual rights (including civil rights and human rights), capitalism, democracy, secularism, gender equality, racial equality, internationalism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of religion. Yellow is the political colour most commonly associated with liberalism. [Ha!]"

There are a lot of good things in there, but notice the priorities. The underlying idea of liberalism is that if you have free markets, free trade, and limited government, then the rest will just fall into place. This is why Ronald Reagan is considered amongst political scientists to be the last actually "liberal" President.

But it's 2021. We now know that if we leave people to their own devices this way that the free market will suck out all the world's blood like an ichneumon wasp, leaving only a dried carcass. https://www.britannica.com/animal/ichneumon

In particular, you touch on the Mars Myth - that we can somehow destroy the only living world we have ever seen, then a few billionaires will fly 300 million kilometers to live in a very cold, dark, arid, lifeless, airless, poisonous, radioactive desert, to live in pressurized domes for at least centuries - and that this is a good thing.

NO. If we kill the only living world we know, we won't be able to bring a dead world to life. It's madness, literal madness. This idea replaces the Christian idea of Heaven, and I never thought I would find some idea even less convincing Heaven.

Thanks as always for writing! I shall now clap.
