I didn't know Bob Shannon, but someone just disappearing from the air and then dying ten years later sounds like, sigh, dementia. Quite likely the family wanted to preserve his reputation and protect the public from hearing sadness, and who could blame them?

I remember when radio was a vital force. Seems long ago now. I've been listening to old John Peel broadcasts off and on over the last couple of years, on top of his game all the way to the end, but it's a crying shame that the whole job has really vanished...
