I don't know if it is "likely".

Geology shows that the last time that Greenland was free of ice was a million years before homo sapiens evolved. Homo antecessor was the dominant hominin at the time, and had very simple stone tools but no fire or art to the best of our knowledge.

It is not impossible though unlikely that other non-human intelligent species have existed in other geological eras. Were this true, Greenland would be logical place to hope to find evidence.
