I agree 100% that conspiracy theories are a way of grasping at explanations for a world that appears mishewn and meaningless. They also offer hope, albeit a false one — “if we could just get rid of X” (the Deep State, the Jews, the Liberals, whatever) “then the world would be OK again.”
