I live in Amsterdam.

Some tourists call it "the Dam" which drives people here nuts, because "the Dam" is Dam Square, and because the two biggest cities and a host of others end with "Dam".

It's like calling New York City "York" or London "Don". :-D

It's funny how fast you pick it up - we'd been here for a year when someone used it to me and I winced even though no one had told me it was wrong...
