I remember walking around Manhattan on that same day. I walked almost ten miles — from E62nd Street and Second Avenue to Houston, over to the West Side Highway, up to around W50th and then back over to home again.
I was in a very heightened state, and I believed this would change everything, but in my foolishness, I thought we'd all become poets and transform the world. And I was already far too old to believe such bullshit. I have no excuse except hope and a lack of desire to experience despair.
