I think we progressives need to be concentrating on tactics that provide us with some sort of tangible benefit - and things that have a hope of succeeding.

Your proposal scores poorly on both of those fronts.

Do you really think people are going to start talking about the enslaved persons trade? About Lincoln freeing the enslaved persons? Are we going to rewrite the Bible to get rid of the world "slave"?

But more, you are writing this during a literal genocide of American people of color - who are being killed by COVID at a much higher rate than whites, for many reasons, all bad and evil ones.

People of color have lost ground financially every year for decades, and now 50% of black businesses will likely be out of business in a year. Armed gangs of criminals called "police" are allowed to kill them simply for sport, and they do, in videos we see every week.

Against that background, perhaps we should be choosing battles that will actually save lives and jobs, and battles that we might actually win.
