I worked there for five years, though it was quite a while ago. My guess is your guess is not right - there's probably a fairly small team with maybe 20 people in it, all deeply specialized in ad blocking, because this isn't something that putting a lot of regular programmers on will accelerate.

But there was no such team before I left, so I really have no idea for sure...
