I'd like to believe that evangelicals have actually decided to turn away from evil, but decades of experience make me very very skeptical.

I suspect it's simply a change in branding for most of them. A tiny number might actually change their votes, but most of them will just continue to believe that the Democrats are evil baby-raping Communists like the Republicans say they are.
