If a President is immune, he can blatantly commit crimes to win the election and escape the consequences of his crimes for another four years — and clearly Donald Trump is just the sort of person to do that.

Heck, once the President realizes he’s above the law, why should he give the office up, ever? Once laws are meaningless, why not try to become dictator?

I simply have no understanding of people who believe that the President can commit any crimes he feels like, and that this is a good thing. Americans have rude names for other countries with leaders who are completely above the law — names like “banana republic”. Why does this not apply to America?
