If we want to survive the next hundred years, we need to take dramatic, immediate action to not devastate our biosphere.

No, we can't "do both". We've known about the climate catastrophe for generations now, and we've still done nothing. I'll believe we can do both only when we actually start doing the "not devastating our climate" part.

Worrying about problems that happen thousands or even millions of years in the future, like asteroid strikes or megavolcanoes, while our living world is under immediate threat, is like refusing to leave a burning house because you're trying to buy burial plots for your great-grandchildren.
