"If you want anything, anything at all out of your government except not Trump, you're a laughable and deluded fool." -you

You didn't bother to read the article you are replying to, whose summary is this: "Why do the Democrats demand the votes of Progressives while offering mocking and abusing them and offering them nothing except 'not Trump'?" Rather like... you!, in fact.

Yes, I am indeed reminded of 2016, when the Democrats ran literally the second most hated Presidential candidate in history, told Americans that America was already great (i.e., this is as good as it gets for you).

I lived in America for over thirty years. For those three decades, my political beliefs - that America should not engaged in foreign wars of choice; that Wall Street and government should follow the law, and face the consequences when they don't; that single-payer medicine is much better than what the US has - for thirty years my beliefs were considered to be childish, juvenile, stupid, even though they are boringly mainstream in all other developed countries.

I left. Why should I stay when I'm not wanted? Pretty well anyone on the left - I don't mean Democrats, a center-right, pro-military, pro-Wall Street, pro-big-business party, but actually on the left - feels the same way.

Maybe you should get a hint from the Republicans. They love their most radical side. They push their most radical beliefs without shame.

That's why the Republicans win and win and win and even when the Democrats win, they are unable to make any significant changes at all.

"Unfortunately, in politics, the realities sometimes suck."

"Sometimes"? After three decades in America, I thoroughly detest each and every mainstream Democrat as ineffectual and wildly anti-leftist. After eight years of Obama, eight years squandered, I can't even look at the man's picture.

You're in the goo now.

But one thing is certain. No matter how badly the Democrats screw up, they will never learn anything, not the slightest thing. Just like in 2016, when they lose, they won't do any self-examination, there will be no analysis of what they did wrong, no one will lose their jobs. They'll just blame Bernie Sanders and those pesky leftists again, just like they falsely did in 2016, and change nothing.
