I'm 59.
I manage to keep employed by always doing something new and cutting edge. And yes, it's somewhat less fun as you get older, but I do still enjoy it. It helps that I still love to program and am at the peak of my skills there.
There is no value placed on wisdom or experience in our immature industry. Indeed, an experienced engineer is going to know when they're being lied to by management and this is a drawback for most organizations.
Sorry you got into this bind, hope things look up for you.
