I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous.
One side you have the people who are pointing to the ongoing devastation of our biosphere today, right now, devastation that makes it very hard to see how we won't just kill a large portion of our ecosystem within a couple of generations.
They also point to the fact that the global poor are already being devastated by these changes, changed which overwhelmingly benefit the rich.
On the other hand, you have the people who say that these horrifying truths don't matter because they are worth nothing compared with a galactic future for us, millennia from now.
You put these two sides against each other as if each of them have a good point and the truth is somewhere between them, when the reality is that the Transhumanist side is simply batshitinsane.
If we kill the biosphere, we die with it. If we can't keep the only ecosystem we know alive, we certainly aren't going be able to turn the freezing, dark, airless, arid, lifeless, poisonous, radioactive deserts of Mars into something that humans could like to live on.
It's madness. I can't understand how you can possibly feel it has any fragment of truth.
