In 1797, America made a treaty with Tripoli, declaring that "the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." This was written during Washington's presidency, and approved by the Senate under John Adams.

Thomas Jefferson prepared his own version of the Bible with all the references to miracles and theology removed.

By the standards of their day, the founders were far, far more questioning of religion than almost anyone else at the time.

As to why no one goes to church, it should be obvious. Christians in America overwhelmingly support outright monsters like Donald Trump. Trump is the very embodiment of the seven deadly sins. He is a pathological liar and a narcissist. He is hateful and cruel.

More, he's completely ignorant of Christianity. He never goes to church, has never quoted a single verse from the Bible, and in an interview, was unable to name even a single book of the Bible.

And yet a hundred million American Christians reverse him as a godly man sent to America by God.

Of course any human with an ounce of compassion would run far, far away from Christianity! And the fact that you don't see it calls your compassion, ethics and morals into question - that and starting your article with an easily-disproven falsehood.
