It might well be because "liberalism" is a commitment to political inaction (and I say this as a socialist, not as a drooling MAGA).
The Wikipedia defines: "Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on liberty, consent of the governed and equality before the law. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but they generally support individual rights (including civil rights and human rights), democracy, secularism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion and a market economy. Yellow is the political colour most commonly associated with liberalism."
The underlying idea of liberalism is that free markets will save the world and that government's role is to remove barriers to the free market. This is why generations of liberals have been unable to stem the climate emergency.
Liberalism offers nothing to the politically aware. You should be calling for social democracy, socialism, communism, anarchism or any other political philosophy that offers us some hope of combatting the oncoming climate catastrophe.
(Also, your article is really weird, because it misses nearly all the real issues of today's world, they being the looting of our society by the 1%, the development of a permanent underclass, blatant unpunished lawbreaking by the rich and powerful, as well of course as the impending death of our ecosystem.)
