The subpoena, coming as it does in late October, is highly unlikely to result in any testimony or documents from the former president. When the current Congress adjourns sine die at the end of the year, the January 6 Committee goes out of existence. The entity issuing the subpoena will no longer exist. It will have already filed its final report. If the House of Representatives taking office is under Republican control, any possibility of the subpoena being re-issued, already an improbable scenario, will disappear.

It seems like it's simply a broken system at this point, if a committee of the highest lawmakers in the land can emit subpoenas that can be completely ignored without any consequences.
What's the point of the law if it's just a suggestion for the rich and powerful?
