I've been enjoying your articles, but this one left out absolutely all the details that made it interesting.
In particular, Turing's homosexuality was an open secret and no one cared at all - until Turing foolishly walked into a police station to complain about his male lover having stolen his stereo, and explicitly told the officer that they were having sex.
The worst is that the police officer was a fan of Turing and tried to convince Turing not to include that detail in the report. But he insisted.
And then the system destroyed him.
Also, you missed out on how he died - he ate a poisoned apple. It was almost certainly suicide and it is hypothesized that he did the apple thing in order to give his mother plausible deniability.
