I've spent YEARS trying to talk to Republicans in the nicest way, and many of them I am still cordial with.

When someone believes that all the world's newspapers and all the world's scientists are in cahoots to make Donald Trump look bad, what am I to say? When someone literally only believes what they choose to believe, and those beliefs are hateful and evil and factually wrong, how can we have a conversation?

I remember one of the last Trump supporters to flame out on my page, when she claimed that none of the kids who died at Sandy Hook even existed. When I told her that I knew someone who was friends with them, she erupted in a fountain of hatred.

I was just shocked. We'd been friends for decades. I've always been open to wild theories, and I was very respectful. I didn't think it was controversial or offensive to say, "Some of these kids were friends of friends of mine."

Now multiply that by two dozen. That was 2016-2018 for me.

No, it's not "both sides". Obama was extremely respectful to the Republicans, and for his pains he was vilified as a Muslim socialist non-American who was married to a transgender man.

I could make a list of tens of thousands of dire insults by Republican leaders thrown out at everyone.

A difference of opinion is when I like olives and you don't. This is not that.

Trump and the Republicans in general have systematically denied that COVID is any sort of problem and actively prevented any sort of systematic response to the pandemic.

Now a quarter million Americans have died horribly, and the virus is completely out of control, and yet the government still refuses to act.

Over a thousand Americans die every day of this disease, and given that every day there's a new record number of new cases, this number of deaths is set to double in a few weeks.

And still Trump and almost every Republican governor refuse to act and call it a hoax, and now they are preventing next President from doing anything about it too.

This isn't a difference of opinion - this is genocide.

I'm out of time to have discussions with people such as yourself who describe hundreds of thousands of horrible deaths as "a difference of opinion".

You cannot use words to convince a sociopath that other people's lives have value.

Goodbye.
