Just a quibble - it's no longer "in principle", it has already been demonstrated.

The only reason that we can't run commercial maglev trains right now(*) is that the cost of cooling would be so great that they'd be a lot less efficient than conventional trains.

(* - meaning "after a decade of development", naturally.)
