Let me start by thanking you for admitting you were completely wrong about the overwhelming majority of people who died from COVID being very old - by switching to another topic and not disputing my numerical evidence.
It takes a big person to admit they were wrong!
On this new topic, of course people's livelihoods are important.
But premature reopening leads to further shutdowns as there are further localized waves.
To be honest, America blew the response to COVID=19 completely and now it's eight months into it. There isn't going to be a good fix.
America should have listened to epidemiologists and eminent specialists in infectious diseases, not a blowhard President who simply made shit up as he felt like it.
America could still get it together and cooperate on a systematic disease control program of complete mask-wearing, temporary flexible shutdowns with no notice and fast track-and-trace - like New Zealand.
You want specific tools so you can say, "There were four people with COVID-19 in this high school, so we'll lock everyone connected with the school down for three days" , while you rapidly test everyone.
You go in with tight precision and knock out spreaders and centers of infection.
Just look at New Zealand's plan. Don't give me the "It's an island" crap, look at the plan and see how it could be implemented in any developed country, not just NZ.
America hasn't the skill or will to do this. A hundred million Americans would rather die, and a hundred thousand of them actually will, than cooperate with each other.
