Mastodon is federated.

I am on an Amsterdam server. It's pretty free-speech oriented, but there are some outright white supremacist "kill the Jews and the [nasty word for Black people]" type organizations who also have their own servers, and our server neither accepts information from them or broadcasts to them, so I have no way to see that material other than signing on to the Fascist sites directly.

It's fine by me.
