No, it is not a solution for the problem of "the distribution system breaking down right now".

"No distribution" eventually means "food not getting into the city".

It isn't even a solution for you personally. If the distribution systems really stop working, for every one customer at that farmer's market today, there will be one hundred customers tomorrow.

I agree that we should be using far, far more local food production, and meat is right out. But distribution is an immediate problem, and moving toward local eating is a medium-term problem, and one that is very hard for 99% of the world to have any input inn.
