None of these superhero characters have any depth at all: a punch-em-up solves every problem in both the DC and Marvel Universe. (I would add that Gadot's politics are terrible, too.)

The message is always the same - "Regular people are powerless, but the elites will save you, because they are better than you."

There's also a secondary message - "No problem is too big not be to solved instantly" - which allows people to believe that when we "need to" we can solve climate change overnight, or simply move everyone to Mars, happy ending.

About twenty years ago, I realized that nearly all these movies are authoritarian propaganda. I've unfortunately seen quite a few of these movies since (I was travelling to Europe a lot, before I gave up flying, and in-flight movies saved my sanity, even schlocky ones) and nothing I have seen has changed my mind.

Your article is better written than any of the movies, however. :-D

EDIT: I hadn’t finished your article when I wrote this. Seems like you came to the same conclusion I did! Many claps.
