Of course, not all Christians.
But a majority of American Christians willing to reveal their political views are Republican: https://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/compare/party-affiliation/by/christians/
The moment a person surrenders to "faith" in supernatural beings, they are believing something because they want it to be true, despite a lack of evidence, because you don't need faith to believe in evidence.
Again, not all theists.
But the vast majority of theists on the Earth think that their cosmogony is literally correct, and everyone else's is wrong, and much of history has come because large numbers of them are willing to use force to prove that claim.
I have no issue with confronting contemporary Christians with the idea of Hell. If they say, "I am a Christian, and I believe that Hell does not exist," that's fine by me.
No, my issue is with the people who talk about a God of Love who also manages a torture chamber in his basement.
If someone thinks their God is going to torture me for eternity simply because I am evil for not believing in Him, then there's no reason for that person not to abuse me in any way they see fit. Like Father, like son, so to speak.
