Sadly accurate.
My feeling is that the carrying capacity of the planet is about one billion humans and we are in the midst of an unprecedented population overshoot.
It's unprecedented, because no other species ever had technology, and thus we're never able to exceed so much the actual carrying capacity. This means that eventually we will end up below the carrying capacity, because of a degraded environment. And that means about 7 billion people will have to die in a comparatively short period of time.
"Lucky" for me, I will be dead of old age by that time, as I'm fairly old right now, but it is simply appalling to contemplate.
